Consumer Confidence Plunges in October, Report Says

The mood among U.S. consumers turned gloomier this month, according to a report released Tuesday (10/25), with confidence slipping back to recessionary levels as people turned more pessimistic about jobs.

The Conference Board, a private research group, said its index of consumer confidence plunged to 39.8 in October from a revised 46.4 in September, which first was reported as 45.4, wsj.com reported. (more…)
